Business Promotion: Color is an Important Aspect

Up until the 1960’s, the world was displayed in black and white. Movies and television shows were only made in black and white and publications were only printed with black ink. However, once film and print became readily available in color, it was clear that colors were the best way to attract people’s attention.

How should I use color to help my business?

You want to use color to make your business memorable. When creating a logo, be sure to use only a few colors. For example, what company do you think of when you see the color turquoise? Any woman would probably know the answer to this – Tiffany’s. Using various logos, fonts or colors makes it easier for clients to forget your business.

The colors used in retail space are also very important. You want to make sure that the colors of your products do not blend into the colors of your shelves or walls, for example. Design your product with colors that stand out so they have good shelf appeal.

Colors also have a psychological influence on your clients. They represent different moods and emotions, and the color of your product has the power to transmit such emotions and moods to your customers. You want to use color to portray emotions that will benefit your business.

Colors are often used in nonverbal communication. An example of this is the colors that can be found in nature. There is color in flowers, butterflies, and other living things that have taught humans basic life lessons. Just as color is used as a form of communication in nature, you want to use it as a form of communication for your business. If your product had something to say, what would it say? And what colors do you associate with that message? The right use of colors should relay your products’ message to your customers.

Getting brand awareness that gives a lasting impression is a point of major concern for most companies today. There is no correct way to use colors and everyone has different tastes. Therefore, everyone will use and view color differently. Whether you are looking to design the perfect logo or you are trying to decide which colors to use when producing your product, keep in mind the influence that color will have on your presentation.
